The USJBC is unique among Japan-focused US business organizations in that it has a longstanding relationship with a Japanese counterpart group, the Japan-US Business Council (JUBC), dating over 40 years. The JUBC is comprised of senior executives from major Japanese companies in diverse manufacturing and services industries, as well as major business associations such as Nippon Keidanren and Keizai Doyukai. The current Chairman of the JUBC is Hiromasa Yonekura, Chairman of Sumitomo Chemical Co.
While the two organizations are totally separate in terms of membership, funding, and governance, this relationship is an integral part of USJBC activities. The Councils share the common objective of making the US-Japan economic relationship as strong and mutually beneficial as possible, and are committed to working closely and cooperatively to advance mutual business interests.
