Japan,
the largest market for U.S. goods in Asia and third largest after
Canada and Mexico, is critical for U.S. companies. The decade-plus
economic slump, globalization, regulatory reform, and aging population
are forcing changes in the Japanese market. U.S. companies now
have greater opportunities for direct investment, strategic alliances,
and other tie-ups than any time in the post-war era. The USJBC's core mission is to help foster stronger business relations between
the United States and Japan and promote changes in the Japanese business
environment that make it less difficult and costly to do business there.
- Working
independently and with Japanese companies to support structural
and regulatory reform in Japan.
- Interacting
with U.S. and Japanese government officials on policy and other
matters that affect the ability of U.S.
firms to do business in Japan.
- Collaborating
with Japanese companies to promote mutual business and policy
interests. Providing
networking and business-to-business dialogue between senior
U.S. and Japanese business
leaders.
